Abstract

The invention discloses an automatic migration system and method for virtual machines between heterogeneous cloud platforms. The system comprises a judgment unit, a first import unit, a second import unit, a format conversion unit and an operating system matching unit. The judgment unit judges whether the formats of magnetic disk files of a source virtual machine is matched with the formed supported by the target cloud platform or not. The first import unit and the second import unit are used for importing the magnetic disk files or the corrected magnetic disk files to the target cloud platform. The format conversion unit is used for converting the formats of the magnetic disk files. The operating system matching unit is used for determining the update status of an operating system of the target cloud platform and a magnetic disk interface driver of the source virtual machine. The system can achieve automatic migration of the virtual machines, the workload of manual operation is greatly reduced, the update state of the operating system of the target cloud platform and the update state of the magnetic disk interface driver of the source virtual machine can be determined according to the number of magnetic disks contained in the virtual machines, and therefore migration of the virtual machines containing one or more magnetic disks can be achieved.
