Abstract

The embodiment of the invention provides a user isolation method and a switch, and relates to the field of communication. The problem that BUM traffic cannot be isolated among tenants is solved. The method comprises the steps that the switch listens to information which is carried in a first message and is sent by a first user online; the switch determines that the first user belongs to a first EPG according to the correspondence between the information carried in the first message and the EPG identifier, determines that the first user corresponds to a first IP multicast address according to the first EPG identifier and the correspondence between the EPG identifier and the IP multicast address, and determines that the first user belongs to a multicast group corresponding to the first IP multicast address; the switch joins the first user to the multicast group; when the switch receives first BUM traffic sent by the first user, the switch encapsulates the first BUM traffic into the firstmulticast traffic of the multicast group; and the first multicast traffic includes the first IP multicast address, so that the first multicast traffic is forwarded to be used by others in the multicast group. The embodiment of the invention is used for user isolation in VXLAN.
