Embodiments of the invention provide a junk file information library establishment method and apparatus, and a junk file identification method and apparatus, which can solve the problem of poor identification capability of junk files due to only capability of identifying the junk files in fixed directories such as cache junk, log files and the like in the prior art. The junk file information library establishment method comprises the steps of receiving file scanning information reported by a client, wherein the file scanning information comprises file identifiers of files scanned by the client; according to a relationship between the file scanning information and preset statistical information, obtaining the corresponding scanned files to form a file sample library; and determining whetherfile samples in the file sample library are the junk files or not, thereby forming a junk file information library. The junk file information library establishment method and apparatus, and the junkfile identification method and apparatus are used in junk file cleanup.
