[0017] The present invention relates to exercise equipment comprising one or more motors or other electronic drives for controlling one or more operating parameters of the exercise equipment. Since the invention will be described in connection with an electric treadmill, it should be understood that the invention is not limited to any particular exercise machine. Rather, the present invention is readily adaptable to any electric exercise machine or exercise machine that utilizes stepper motors, electromagnetics or any other electronic drives to control machine operating parameters such as speed, resistance, inclination or other similar operating parameters. Abstract

Systems and methods for providing an improved exercise machine with an actuation program (54). The invention is particularly applicable to exercise equipment utilizing one or more motors (30) and/or other electronic drives to control one or more operating parameters of the exercise equipment. The present invention seeks to control exercise equipment using a program comprising actuating content and one or more control signals (64) synchronized with the actuating content. Motivational content preferably includes audio and/or video (56) designed to simulate a group workout. In addition, motivational content may include instructive, educational content that is beneficial to users. Programs may be live or pre-recorded and can be transmitted via broadcast channels, cable, satellite, intranet or any other method suitable for the transmission of audio and/or video signals, as is feasible. The invention also includes a device for reproducing a program including activation content synchronized with a control signal.
