If different data streams are transmitted on these parallel sub-channels, it is called spatial multiplexing. Spatial multiplexing divides a data stream into multiple sub-streams, and transmits these sub-streams to different mobile stations simultaneously through different antenna units. Therefore, the capacity of a MIMO channel increases linearly with the number of sub-channels.
