One path, a line inductor path, may advantageously incur minimal power loss when the engine generator is supplying rated power to a load. A second path, a VSCF path, may be used to ensure that the frequency of the power is maintained at a substantially constant frequency under various load conditions. Another embodiment of the invention describes a process for determining optimal engine generator speed for a particular load. Because engine speed can be varied using any VSCF device, this process determines a speed that minimizes fuel consumption, emissions, and noise pollution for a given load.

Systems and methods for parameter adaptation

A method of parameter adaptation is used to modify the parameters of a model to improve model performance. The model separately estimates the contribution of each model parameter to the prediction error. It achieves this by transforming to the time-scale plane the vectors of output sensitivities with respect to model parameters and then identifying the regions within the time-scale plane at which the dynamic effect of individual model parameters is dominant on the output. The method then attributes the prediction error in these regions to the deviation of a single parameter from its true value as the basis of estimating individual parametric errors. The proposed Signature Isolation Method (PARSIM) then uses these estimates to adapt individual model parameters independently of the others, implementing, in effect, concurrent adaptation of individual parameters by the Newton-Raphson method in the time-scale plane. The Signature Isolation Method has been found to have an adaptation precision comparable to that of the Gauss-Newton method for noise-free cases. However, it surpasses the Gauss-Newton method in precision when the output is contaminated with noise or when the measurements are generated by inadequate excitation.

The invention produces a higher quality image from a rendering system based on a relationship between the output of a rendering system and the parameters used to compute them. We propose a method that robustly combines color and feature buffers to denoise Monte Carlo renderings. On one hand, feature buffers, such as per pixel normals, textures, or depth, are effective in determining denoising filters because features are highly correlated with rendered images. Filters based solely on features, however, are prone to blurring image details that are not well represented by the features. On the other hand, color buffers represent all details, but they may be less effective to determine filters because they are contaminated by the noise that is supposed to be removed. We propose to obtain filters using a combination of color and feature buffers in an NL-means and cross-bilateral filtering framework. We determine a robust weighting of colors and features using a SURE-based error estimate. We show significant improvements in subjective and quantitative errors compared to the previous state-of-the-art. We also demonstrate adaptive sampling and space-time filtering for animations.

The fusion method is characterized by comprising the following steps of: firstly, carrying out NSCT decomposition on the SAR images and the visible light images respectively; then adopting different fusion rules to carry out fusion treatment on NSCT low-frequency and high-frequency subband coefficients, wherein according to the decomposition coefficient characteristics of noise and signals in an NSCT domain, carrying out hard-threshold denoising on the NSCT high-frequency subband coefficient of the SAR images under the maximum decomposition scale, then respectively adopting different fusion rules to carry out fusion processing on the NSCT high-frequency subband coefficient under the maximum decomposition scale and other decomposition scales by adopting the coefficients with threshold processing as the basis; and finally,carrying out NSCT reverse transformation on the fused NSCT coefficients and obtaining fused images. The fusion method takes denoising as the basis of the fusion rule design, considers noise suppression while fusion treatment is carried out, is simple and easy to operate, can be used for obtaining a good fusion effect and is especially more applicable to the SAR images and the visible light imageswith serious spot and noise pollution.

A vertical range-hood active noise reduction device and a noise reduction method with the application of the device are disclosed. An air inlet of the range hood is divided into at least two air inlet ducts. A separate active control device is installed in each air inlet duct. Each active control device contains a reference microphone, an error microphone and a loudspeaker and is controlled by an active noise reduction controller. The reference microphone is installed at the back end of the corresponding air inlet duct. The error microphone is mounted at the front end of the corresponding air inlet duct. The loudspeaker is positioned between the reference microphone and the error microphone. The invention has advantages as follows: each active control device cooperates with the active noise reduction controller; and according to values of noise signals and error signals, output of the loudspeaker is adjusted through the active noise reduction controller. Thus, the purpose of noise reduction is achieved on the precondition of not influencing other parameters of the range hood or reducing performance of the range hood. In particular, low-and-medium frequency noise of the vertical range hood is greatly reduced, and the main noise pollution source of a kitchen is eliminated.

The defogged image denoising method has the advantages of being high in detail protection degree, good in denoising effect, low in complexity and the like.
