Net electrical power from the power plant is used to operate a pyrolysis system or a hydrothermal liquefaction unit that converts wood biomass to liquid hydrocarbon fuels. A carbon capture and utilization system uses CO2 recovered from the power plant exhaust stack to generate a variety of fuels and / or specialty chemicals. Steam from the power plant is used to make activated carbon from the char residue from pyrolysis.
