Embodiment Construction
[0021] Figures 1a and 1b show a first embodiment of an accessory according to the invention. The attachment takes the form of a crevice tool 10 having a head 20 and a neck 30 . The head 20 has an elongated body 22 with a suction opening 24 at an end remote from the neck 30 . As with known crevice tools, the elongated body 22 is relatively long and thin to allow access to hard-to-access areas of the floor, with the suction opening 24 lying in a plane inclined along the long axis of the elongated body 22 .
[0022] Neck 30 is manufactured integrally with head 20 and is adapted to cooperate with the ends of pipes and hoses of a cleaning implement (not shown). The head 30 has a first portion 32 including a partially cylindrical wall 34 extending axially from the head 20 . The outer surface of the part-cylindrical wall 34 is spatially shaped to be able to be inserted into the end of a pipe or hose and retained therein by means of a friction fit. In this embodiment, the part-cyli...

Abstract
The invention provides an attachment (10, 60, 80) for a cleaning appliance (120) having a head (20, 62, 82) and a neck (30, 64, 84), the neck (30, 64, 84) being adapted to be connected to the mouth (50) of a wand (128) or hose (130) of the cleaning appliance (120). The neck (30, 64, 84) has a first portion (32, 66, 86) which, in use, lies alongside the mouth (50) of the wand or hose and a second portion (36, 68, 88) which, in use, is spaced away from the mouth (50) of the wand or hose. This arrangement provides a bleed air passageway (42) which allows atmospheric air to be bled into the hose or wand so as to reduce the suction at the main suction opening (24, 62a, 82d) of the attachment (10, 60, 80). It also provides an advantageous storage solution for the attachments (10, 60, 80) of the cleaning appliance (120).
Description
technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an accessory for a cleaning appliance, in particular, but not limited to, a vacuum cleaner. The invention also provides a combined device having an accessory handle and at least one accessory. The invention further provides a vacuum cleaner having at least one accessory. Background technique [0002] It is known that accessories for vacuum cleaners are usually supplied by vacuum cleaner manufacturers in order to make their products available for a wide range of applications. For example, many vacuums come with a stair tool for cleaning stairs, a surface dust brush tool that doesn't scratch surfaces, and a crevice tool for cleaning small areas that larger tools can't access. These tools or accessories typically connect to the hose or tube of the vacuum cleaner using a simple friction fit of the cylindrical hose or tube end to the tool's cylindrical neck. Sometimes it is also equipped with hooks or spines to improve th...
