The picture searching method disclosed by the invention comprises two parts: front end query and rear end processing, wherein a front end comprises a user input interface and a result return interface; the rear end comprises characteristic extraction, similarity computation, characteristic vectors dimension reduction and indexing. By developing the parallelism of the search system, the performance of the whole picture search system is optimized on the aspects of serial and parallel, thereby enhancing the corresponding speed of query.
