Abstract

A system (10) for processing and treating a wastestream, NPP primary water or like fluid from a PWR, VVER or other boron moderated reactor source is disclosed. The system allows discharge amounts of boron to be safely lowered and selectively recovered as a solid for disposal and recycled or reused in other fluid forms; and allows for replenishing of high pH subsystems needed in situ by internal coordinated use of regeneration fluids.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of Provisional Application No. 61 / 438,249, filed January 31, 2011, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to methods, processes or systems for processing and treating effluent, NPP nascent water or similar fluids from PWRs or other boron moderated reactors (or BMRs), such that boron emissions are reduced and boron can be recovered; In this regard, better security measures can be brought to the environment. Background technique [0004] In the technical field of the present invention, boron has been used as a neutron moderator in pressurized water reactors (PWRs), Russian WER reactors and other boron moderated reactors (BMRs). The actual moderator is the B10 isotope, which makes up about 19.8% of the naturally occurring boron, with the remaining B11 making up about 80.2%. B10 consumes neutrons in nuclear f...
