The method includes: establishing a VxLAN tunnel with each VTEP (VxLAN tunnel end point); receiving an unknown unicast message transmitted by the source VTEP, determining all target VTEPs, except for the source VETP, in the VxLAN according to a VxLAN identifier carried in the unknown unicast message, and transmitting the unknown unicast message to the target VTEP. The processing method and device according to the scheme has the advantages that a proxy server added to the VxLAN is used to copy and forward the unknown unicast message, and network resources among VTEP devices are greatly saved.
