The basic idea of the determining method for the threshold traffic state parameter is that by utilizing a lane basic traffic flow parameter obtained on a road segment; calculating to obtain traffic state parameters, namely speeds and time occupancy values, under the different traffic states on the road segment; establishing a Gaussian mixture model of the traffic state parameters; estimating to obtain the Gaussian mixture model under a smooth state and a congestion state through a model parameter; calculating to obtain a threshold traffic state value through the probability density function accumulated by the Gaussian model under the smooth state and the congestion state; and carrying out the discrimination on the traffic state of the road segment by utilizing the threshold traffic state parameters. According to the determining method for the threshold traffic state parameter, the insufficient parameter setting by the human experience is solved, the accuracy and pertinency of the discrimination of the road traffic state is comprehensively improved, and the scientificity of the traffic controlling level is improved.
