Abstract

The present technology provides a medical stimulation system having a clinical programmer configured to operate on a computing and storage device with a wireless communication device. The present technology also provides a neurostimulator configured to communicate wirelessly with a clinical programmer. The neurostimulator also includes a pulse generator operably coupled to the electrodes via leads. The pulse generator is configured to transmit an electrical signal comprising a continuously repeating irregular train of pulses. Each pulse train consists of multiple pulses with irregular, non-random, different pulse intervals between them. The pulse train is repeated continuously to treat neurological diseases. Additionally, the burst is initiated by instructions transmitted by the clinical programmer.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Application No. 61 / 920,154, filed December 23, 2013, entitled "PROGRAMMING SYSTEMS FOR DEEP BRAINSTIMULATOR SYSTEM," which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention generally relates to a programming system for an implantable deep brain stimulator. Background technique [0004] Deep brain stimulators (DBS) have been found to be successful in treating a variety of neurological disorders including, without limitation, movement disorders. Typically, such treatments involve placing a deep brain stimulator-type lead into a targeted area of the brain through a burr hole drilled in the patient's skull and applying appropriate stimulation to the targeted area through the lead. [0005] Preferably, in DBS, the beneficial (symptom-reducing) effect is mainly observed with stimulation patterns in which the interval betwe...
