Embodiment Construction

[0047] In different drawings, the same elements are indicated by the same reference numerals, unless the context dictates otherwise.

[0048] For the sake of clarity, only those acts and elements that are useful for understanding the embodiments to be described are shown and will be described in detail. In particular, the electronic behavior of the flash memory during write, read and erase operations has not been described in detail, and the described embodiments are compatible with conventional flash memory technology. Furthermore, applications using atomicity management are not described in detail, and the described embodiments are also compatible with conventional applications here.

[0049] figure 1 An embodiment of an electronic circuit 1 of the type of embodiment to be described is shown very schematically in block form as an example application.

[0050] Circuit 1 consists of:

Abstract

The invention relates to index management in a flash memory. A flash memory management method, wherein: the data to be stored are organized in logic blocks; the memory is divided into pages; and eachpage is divided into frames, each frame being capable of containing at least one data block and at least one first frame metadata block containing all or part of the index values of the data block inan index tree, an index value corresponding to the address of a frame.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to electronic circuits, and more particularly to circuits using flash memory. The present disclosure relates more particularly to index management in flash memory. Background technique [0002] Flash memory is increasingly used in microcontrollers to store data in a non-volatile manner. [0003] Data storage in flash memory has various time constraints due to the granularity of the operations performed, writes are performed by words (for example, by four-byte words), and by several words (from tens of words to pages of several hundred words) to perform erasure. [0004] In some applications, it is desirable to be sure that transactions executed and stored meet atomicity criteria. Atomicity of transactions corresponds to determining that data stored in memory effectively has a processable and uncorrupted state. This is equivalent to determining that the data in the non-volatile memory is in the state before t...
