The method comprises the steps of acquiring subnetwork information of a plurality of subnetworks corresponding toa to-be-sensed network; acquiring device information in the corresponding subnetwork through adoption of a discovery technology based on a simple network management protocol, according to the subnetwork information of each subnetwork; and acquiring a topology structure of each subnetwork through adoption of a link layer protocol discovery technology and a depth scanning discovery technology basedon the device information in each subnetwork. The device is used for performing the method. According to the embodiment of the invention, the device information is acquired through adoption of the discovery technology based on the simple network management protocol and connection relationships between devices and ports are acquired through adoption of the link layer protocol discovery technologyand the depth scanning discovery technology, so the topology structure of each subnetwork is sensed relatively rapidly and comprehensively.
