Vinyl latex was mixed at the concentrations shown in Table 1 to prepare reagents for measuring immunoagglutination in Examples 1-1 to 1-4 and Comparative Example 1 having the final latex concentrations shown in Table 1. Similarly, the second reagent was mixed at a predetermined concentration to prepare Examples 2-1 to 2-3, Examples 3-1 to 3-3, and Example 4 having the final latex concentrations shown in Table 2. Abstract

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a hemoglobin assay reagent and assay method that allow for more accurate measurement of the amount of hemoglobin by suppressing a reduction in a hemoglobin measurement value triggered by the addition of haptoglobin. This hemoglobin assay reagent contains: an insoluble carrier that supports an anti-hemoglobin antibody; and an insoluble carrier that supports an anti-haptoglobin antibody. This method for measuring hemoglobin in a specimen comprises: (1) a step in which a specimen including a hemoglobin-haptoglobin complex is obtained by mixing together a specimen and haptoglobin to cause a hemoglobin-haptoglobin complex to be formed; and (2) a step in which the specimen obtained in (1) is brought into contact with the insoluble carrier that supports an anti-hemoglobin antibody and the insoluble carrier that supports an anti-haptoglobin antibody to cause immunoagglutination.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a reagent and a method for measuring hemoglobin. Background technique [0002] The detection of blood contained in samples such as stool, urine, saliva, etc. is useful for the diagnosis of most diseases. For example, fecal occult blood testing, which detects blood in stool, is used in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer. As a method for detecting occult blood, an immunological method for detecting hemoglobin contained in occult blood in a sample such as stool using an anti-hemoglobin antibody is known. [0003] A sample for an occult blood test is usually collected from a subject into a container containing a preservation solution, and sent to an inspection institution such as a hospital. In most cases, the preservation solutions containing the samples are kept for several days until they are actually available for examination, during which time they are often placed at elevated temperatures. Hemoglobin is unstable in solutio...
