Abstract

A technique is disclosed for replacing a source virtualized network function manager (VNFM) that manages a source VNF by a target virtualized network function manager (VNFM) in a virtualized network function (VNF)-based environment. A method implementation of the technique comprises the steps of triggering (S302) instantiating a target VNF, the target VNF being managed by a target VNFM and executed in parallel with a source VNF; triggering (S304) redirecting the traffic from the source VNF to the target VNF according to the traffic redirection schedule; triggering (S306) termination of the source VNF when redirection of the traffic from the source VNF to the target VNF is completed; and triggering (S308) the termination source VNFM.
