[0035] image 3 is a message flow diagram showing the measurement operation of neighboring cells for cell (re)selection and handover according to the first embodiment of the present invention. Reference numeral 301 denotes a UE, and reference numeral 303 denotes a cell where the UE 301 is currently located, or an eNB controlling a serving cell serving the UE 301 .

[0036] refer to image 3 , in step 311, the eNB sends system information or a UE-specific measurement control message to the UE. The UE acquires the absolute threshold Threshold_P-BCH_reading (threshold for reading the detected P-BCH of the neighboring cell) to be applied to the measured radio channel state of the neighboring cell from the system information or the UE-specific measurement control message. In step 321, only for the detected adjacent cells that indicate that the measurement result value of the radio channel state given before applying Qoffset exceeds the absolute threshold Threshold_P-BCH_reading, ...

[0046] Figure 6 is a message flow diagram showing the measurement operation of neighboring cells for cell (re)selection and handover according to the second embodiment of the present invention. Reference numeral 601 denotes a UE, and reference numeral 603 denotes a cell where the UE 601 is currently located, or an eNB controlling a serving cell serving the UE 601 .

[0047] refer to Figure 6 , in step 611, the eNB sends system information or a UE-specific measurement control message to the UE. Based on the system information or the UE-specific measurement control message, the UE acquires the relative thresholds it will apply to measure the radio channel states of neighboring cells. The term 'relative threshold' is used here to refer to the threshold relative to the threshold of the neighboring cell with the largest measurement value, while the term 'maximum measurement value' is used here to refer to the measurement value before applying Qoffset, i.e., the raw measurement ...

Abstract

A method for performing measurement on neighboring cells in a mobile communication system is provided. The method measurement method includes generating raw measurement result values by performing measurement on received signals from neighboring cells; receiving measurement-related parameters to be applied to raw measurement result values of first neighboring cells, from the first neighboring cells having raw measurement result values exceeding an absolute threshold signaled from a base station as a result of the measurement, among the neighboring cells; generating final measurement result values by applying the measurement-related parameters to the raw measurement result values of the first neighboring cells; and performing cell selection or cell reselection to one of the first neighboring cells according to the final measurement result values, or transmitting a measurement report to a base station of a serving cell.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to mobile communication systems, and more particularly to methods and apparatus for performing measurements on neighboring cells for cell selection or cell reselection and handover. Background technique [0002] The Universal Mobile Telecommunications Service (UMTS) system is a 3rd generation asynchronous system using wideband Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and based on the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) (both European mobile communication systems). mobile communication system. In the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) responsible for standardization of UMTS, a Long Term Lecture (LTE) system is currently being discussed as a next generation mobile communication system of the UMTS system. LTE is a technology for realizing high-speed packet-based communication with a maximum transmission rate of 100 Mbps, and its commercialization is scheduled...
