Embodiment Construction

[0028] Referring now to the attached drawings, see first figure 1 , discloses a fine needle assembly for extracting a cell sample from a suspicious lesion using a fine needle aspiration (FNA) technique. The assembly comprises a tubular needle member 1 , a reservoir 2 defining a chamber, a coupling 3 to which a connector can be connected.

[0029] as from figure 1 It can be seen that transitions are constructed between the different parts 1, 2 and 3 (6, 7) without any remaining space and with effective air flow. These transitions in the inner diameter can be of any shape, eg linear or exponential.

[0030] Thus, the chamber is configured to gradually increase in cross-sectional area from the distal portion of the chamber to the proximal portion of the chamber such that the chamber has no remaining space in which the cell sample can be trapped, thereby enabling efficient air flow.

[0031] According to a preferred embodiment, the chamber has two transition parts, namely a fir...

Abstract

Fine needle arrangement for taking a sample of cells from suspicious lesions by using fine needle aspiration (FNA) technique, comprising a tubular needle member (1), a storage compartment (2) enclosing a chamber, and a coupling (3) to which a connector may be attached. The chamber is configured with a gradually increasing cross-sectional area from the distal part of the chamber to the proximal part of the chamber, such that the chamber has no residual spaces where cell samples may be trapped, and that an efficient air streaming is achieved.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a needle assembly for extracting a cell sample from a suspicious lesion using the so-called fine needle aspiration (FNA) technique, which increases the number of cells in the sample and increases ultrasound visibility compared with prior art assemblies. Further, this component also provides for killing all affected cells dislocated in the needle channel after sampling to prevent local spread (spreading), and also provides a method for increasing cell density when extracting cell samples from cysts. Furthermore, the assembly provides a means of distributing the sample droplets on the microscope slide without significant loss of material. [0002] Finally, the component of the invention also relates to a method for extracting a sample of cells from a tumor with the above-mentioned advantages. Background technique [0003] Almost all Western women will undergo morphological examination for breast cancer at some point in t...
