Abstract

The embodiment of the invention provides a method and an apparatus for playing a streaming media file. Transmission and playing efficiency of the streaming media file can be raised. The method comprises that a first apparatus plays the streaming media file from a streaming media server; if the first apparatus receives a switching instruction, the first apparatus transmits a playing instruction to a second apparatus and at least part of data of the download streaming media file to the second apparatus; the at least part of data comprises data which is not played by the first apparatus; the playing instruction is used for indicate the second apparatus to play part of full of the at least part of data transmitted by the first apparatus. The invention also provides a corresponding apparatus.
