The vehicle reversing detection comprises a ring coil detector at an electric handrail machine, two groups of ultrasonic detectors or (and) two groups of axle sensors, and a reversing detection controller, wherein the ring coil detector, and the two groups of ultrasonic detectors or (and) the two groups of axle sensors are respectively connected with the reversing detection controller; the ring coil detector is arranged on the toll lane at the automatic handrail machine; the two groups of ultrasonic detectors are over against the ring coil detector and are arranged on one side or two sides of the lane; and the two groups of axle sensors are vertical to the direction of travel and are arranged on the lane at the ring coil detector. The vehicle reversing detection device can be used for accurately recognizing the direction of travel of a vehicle passing by the toll lane and preventing cheat behaviors such as a phenomenon that the driver of a vehicle takes more cards during a reversing process.
