The invention provides a novel FPT file format capable of saving person fingerprint and palm print information. The novel FPT file format stores fields with very low use probability in an elongation form so as to solve the problem of storage space waste. The invention also provides a palm print saving method which is beneficial to conveniently exchanging data among fingerprint and palm print systems.
