The method includes processes of inputting a keyword or a plurality of keywords relevant to patients required to be looked up; enabling servers to receive the inputted keywords; analyzing the keywords; searching patents relevant to the keywords in databases; outputting the patents; enabling patent similarity arithmetic units to classify the similarity of each two patents; sorting the classified patent similarity in descending order. The method has the advantages that the retrieval keywords for retrieving the patents can be inputted at one step, so that the problem of retrieval omission can be assuredly solved; the similarity is classified, so that conditions can be provided for pertinently retrieving the patents, the patent retrieval look-up work efficiency and accuracy can be greatly improved, and an effective retrieval tool can be provided for inventors and patient staffs.
