The invention aims at providing a cost estimation method and equipment. The cost estimation method comprises the steps of determining a corresponding cost estimation mode according to an operation type of an operation tree, and based on the cost estimation mode and obtained raw statistical information, determining cost estimation of the operation type; determining cost estimation to be adjusted, based on the operation type corresponding to the cost estimation to be adjusted, determining adjustment factors, and according to the adjustment factors, adjusting the cost estimation to be adjusted; according to unadjusted cost estimation and the adjusted cost estimation, determining cumulative cost estimation of the operation tree, and resolving a contradiction, existing in a traditional cost optimizer, between integrity of the statistical information and accuracy of the cost estimation. Through corrective cost estimation, the accuracy of cost estimation of a cost optimizer is improved, and therefore an execution plan with superior properties is generated.
