The method comprises: acquiring a to-be-processed video; dividing the to-be-processed video into a plurality of slices; starting a plurality of threads in one-to-one correspondence with the plurality of slices and respectively performing a target analysis task on each slice to obtain an analysis result of a moving target in each slice; and carrying out concentration calculation on the analysis results of the moving targets based on a sequential order of the plurality of slices to generate a video abstract of the to-be-processed video. According to the video abstract generation method provided by the invention, the target analysis tasks of one video are processed by using multiple threads in parallel and then integrated concentration is carried out on the dispersed analysis results to generate a video abstract, so that an objective of browsing all contents of the video within short time is achieved and thus waiting time is reduced.
