Abstract

The invention discloses an HOV lane vehicle passenger number detection method and device. The method comprises the following steps: when a vehicle passes, triggering a control module to start a frontshooting module and a side shooting module to simultaneously shoot the front face and the side face of the passing vehicle respectively; sending the shot picture data to the control module for processing and calculating vehicle features and the number of passengers; and through the control module, carrying out vehicle behavior judgment according to the obtained vehicle features and the number of passengers. By shooting the front and side faces of the vehicle on an HOV lane, the case that the detected number of passengers is smaller than actual number of passengers due to shielding of front passengers when only the front face is shot is prevented, so that accuracy of the detection result is ensured; through a short-wave infrared shooting device, capability of imaging through side windows ofthe vehicle is realized; and the device and method have the advantages of day-night imaging, no need of refrigeration and being harmless to human eyes.
