Abstract

The method comprises the steps of performing text detection on an image by use of an MSER (Maximally Stable Extremal Region); then marginalizing the image; calculating a stroke width value along a gradient direction of an edge pixel point; removing a noisy point and filling a gap by use of a morphological operation, and calculating to obtain connected regions; and finally, filtering a non-text field according to a rule and combining the connected regions. The textmethod for stabilizing the region and stroke width changes in combination with the maximum extreme value has the advantages that a rough text field is acquired through MSER detection, the text localization in a natural scene image is realized in combination with marginalization, stroke width change characteristics and the morphological operation; experiments prove that the text method is high inaccurate rate and is beneficial to future text segmentation and text recognition work and has obvious practical meaning in the field of natural scene text localization and can be widely popularized and utilized.
