Novel iodophor composition and methods of use

Abstract

Described are stable topical formulations useful in the treatment of viral wart infection, demodex infection and bacterial infection of the skin, and genitalia and the method of treating viral wart infection, demodex infection and bacterial infection of the skin, and genitalia with said compositions.

Background of the invention

[0001] Millions of human patients suffer from viral infections or viral wart infections, demodex infections, fungal or yeast infections, or bacterial infections of the skin, including the eyes, eyelids, or the skin around the eyes.

[0002] Infections of the eyes or eyelids can occur through direct person-to-person skin contact or indirectly through contaminated surfaces in publicly accessed areas such as public swimming pools or gymnasiums. Exposure to infectious agents can occur through minor abrasions and promote infection through maceration of the epithelium. Autoinoculation is also common.
