Embodiment Construction

[0178] In various embodiments, the ablation devices and catheters described herein are compatible with U.S. Patent 9,561,068 filed on January 12, 2015, entitled "Method and Apparatus for Tissue Ablation" and filed on February 7, 2017. Any one or more of the heating systems described in Published US Patent Application 14 / 594,444, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety, is used in conjunction.

[0179] "Treatment" and variations thereof refer to any means of reducing the extent, frequency or severity of one or more disorders or signs associated with a condition.

[0180] "Duration" and variants thereof refer to the course of time over which treatment is administered as prescribed, ie, from beginning to end, regardless of whether treatment ends because the condition in question is resolved or treatment is suspended for any reason. During the duration of the treatment, a plurality of treatment phases may be prescribed during which one or more prescribed stimuli ...

Abstract

Ablation catheters and systems include a coaxial catheter shaft with an inner lumen for delivering an ablative agent and an outer lumen for circulating coolant around the catheter. Inductive heating is used to heat the compartment and vaporize the fluid in it by winding a coil around the ferromagnetic compartment and supplying an alternating current to the coil. A magnetic field is formed in the area surrounding the compartment, which induces a current in the compartment, heating the compartment and vaporizing the fluid therein. The positioning elements help keep the device in place relative to the target tissue and also prevent the ablative agent from reaching normal tissue.

Description
