Problems solved by technology

For example, shunts are usually supposed to be used in relatively straight vessels and usually do not work well when aneurysms are located at or near vessel junctions and bends
Additionally, in many cases the gap between the struts of the shunt is too large to induce thrombosis in the aneurysm sac, or possibly occlude the parent vessel due to coagulation and / or inflammatory response
Finally, shunts may cause small perforations near the neck of the aneurysm, causing bleeding, or they may block nearby small diameter arteries (perforators), each of which may have neurologic sequelae

Embodiment Construction

[0064] The present invention provides a self-expanding clot-forming device (CFD) designed to be deployed within the aneurysm sac from a catheter, and associated delivery devices, methods of use, and methods of manufacture. CFD may be deployed within an aneurysm positioned along a substantially straight portion or a tortuous portion of a vessel wall, or within an aneurysm at or near a junction or bifurcation of a vessel. Typically, a CFD is formed from a centrally arranged attachment member (eg, a ring) having a plurality of arms extending therefrom in a radial pattern. The arm supports at least the mesh covering the lower part of the CFD. When deployed, CFD forms a three-dimensional shape that is approximately spherical, hemispherical, oval, or semi-oval and is open at the top. Material properties and parameters allow CFD to adapt to aneurysm shape.

Abstract

The invention relates to devices, a systems, and associated methods for use, delivery, and manufacture for changing the blood flow into an aneurysm designed to induce aneurysm thrombosis and / or the exclusion from blood flow and pressure of the aneurysm in order to prevent further growth and eventual rupture. In some embodiments, the various aspects of the invention are directed to treating a cerebral aneurysm.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 62 / 394,564, filed September 14, 2016. Priority to this provisional patent application is expressly claimed, and the disclosure of this provisional application is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety for all purposes. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to devices, systems, and related methods of use, delivery, and manufacture for altering blood flow into an aneurysm designed to induce aneurysm thrombus formation and / or drain aneurysm blood flow and pressure to prevent further growth and eventually cracked. Background technique [0004] Cerebral (cerebral) aneurysms are protrusions that differ in shape from the smooth cylindrical wall of a blood vessel, usually caused by a weak area in the blood vessel wall that develops under blood pressure. In most cases, brain aneurysms cause no symptoms and go unnoticed....
