The ecological tree pool comprises the floator, an abandoned flow drainage ditch and a water distribution area, wherein a flow inlet is formed in one end of the abandoned flow drainage ditch while the other end of the abandoned flow drainage ditch communicates to a drainage pipe, a first through hole matched with the floator is formed in the bottom surface of the abandoned flow drainage ditch, a detention storage space is arranged in the water distribution area below the abandoned flow drainage ditch, the floator is arranged in the detention storage space, the floator canmove up and down in the first through hole, and the upper surface of the floator is aligned to the bottom surface of the abandoned flow drainage ditch or is higher than the bottom surface of the abandoned flow drainage ditch. According to the working method of the ecological tree pool, automatic flow abandonment is achieved based on the floator, and the floator can reset automatically after rainfall, so that manual operations are not needed, and the flow is abandoned efficiently. Problems that initial runoff pollutants may lead to blockage in operation of the tree pool and damage arbor plantsand snowmelt runoff affects operation of a facility and the like are solved effectively.
