Embodiment Construction

[0037] Embodiments of the optical disc identification method of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0038] In the present invention, the type of the disc can be identified from the RF waveform detected when the DVD wavelength is wobbled in the focal length servo.

[0039] In order to obtain the focal length of the optical disc, the focus server moves the objective lens up and down, irradiates a specific wavelength to the corresponding optical disc, detects the RF phase signal from it, adjusts the FRF phase signal, and focuses on the clearest point on the optical disc. Generally, if a specific wavelength is irradiated on an optical disc, three spots in a row will be formed, which are sub-spot, main spot and sub-spot. From these points the RF phase signal is detected.

[0040] In the present invention, the DVD wavelength is used as the wavelength for irradiating the optical disc. In addition, FIGS. 1a to 1c sho...

Abstract

The invention relates to a disc identification method that comprises steps as following: the first step, detecting the RF phase signal that includes the first beam signal which is corresponding with irradiation regulated disc wavelength, main beam signal and the second beam signal; the second step, based on ratio of said first beam signal, main beam signal and the second beam signal, comparing the energy level of collector and identifying type of said disc. The invention is according to the DVD wavelength, and identifies the type of disc correctly by comparing the size or phase of the first beam signal, main beam signal and the second beam signal in RF phase signal.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to an optical disc drive, in particular to an optical disc identification method which can accurately identify the type of optical disc. Background technique [0002] An optical disc is a product that uses optical properties to record or play information, and is usually in the shape of a small disc. A device using such a disc is called a disc recording / playback device. [0003] As a device for recording information or playing information on an optical disc, the optical disc recording / playing device has become a must-buy device for modern people who like various things. In order to record or play information, this kind of optical disc recording / playing device needs to have an optical disc containing the above-mentioned information and an optical disc drive for driving the above-mentioned optical disc, recording or playing information. [0004] Recently commercialized optical disc drives can record or play various optical discs, s...
