Abstract

The invention provides a method and a system for transmitting image stream, wherein an image is stored in an image storage server and is divided into a plurality of blocks. The method for transmitting the image stream comprises the following steps: generating image description information for describing each block in the image; using the image description information to generate the access configuration for describing an image stream transmitting scheme which is customized for local computers based on the environment of the local computers; and transmitting the image stream from the image storage server based on the access configuration. The access configuration indicates the sequence of blocks and/or transmission blocks required by the local computers. In addition, the generated access configuration can be also provided for other local computers with the similar environment to be used for transmitting image stream. The invention can be used for transmitting the image stream based on the environment of the local computers, thereby achieving the purpose of customization, improving the efficiency of stream transmission and providing better experience for users.
