The method comprises the following steps: taking isobutylaldehyde as an initial material, obtaining an intermediate of 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol by the aldol condensation reaction of the isobutylaldehyde, mixing the intermediate with formic acid for esterification reaction to obtain 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol diformate, and mixing the 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol diformate with methyl carbonate to obtain the 4-isopropyl-5,5-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-2-ketone.
