[0220] at P f - In said first embodiment of the estimator, when requested by the BS, the MS reports information about its random access attempts when accessing the network. For all RA attempts from the first preamble up to granted network access, the MS records the information needed to verify the validity of the correlation peak observed at the BS in time and in the RA slot Generated by the preamble sent by the MS. This includes, but is not limited to: (i) the BS the MS is trying to access, (ii) the RA slot ID (number) or time interval, (iii) the preamble (root sequence and bits), and (iv) the timing advance received from the BS in the final and successful attempt. At this point we assume that the MS has not changed its position significantly in the direction towards the BS, i.e. we assume that the round-trip time (and thus the timing advance) has not changed significantly between RA attempts (this may not be valid in high-speed cells Assumptions). The BS compares correla...

Abstract

A method and a communication network node for satisfying detection miss probability and false detection probability requirements in a random access channel used by mobile stations (MS) for accessing a communication network system comprising radio base stations (BS) each serving at least one cell (19). The method includes optimizing a random access channel, wherein the method performs estimating detection miss probability (P m) in said cell, tuning random access parameters such that said estimated detection miss probability satisfies predetermined requirements, estimating a false detection probability (P f) in said communication cell (19), tuning said random access parameters such that said estimated false detection probability satisfies predetermined requirements, and tuning said random access parameters such that an extensive interference caused by mobile stations attempting random access in said communication cell is avoided.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for satisfying the performance requirements of a random access channel used by a mobile station to access a communication network accessible in a communication cell served by a radio base station, wherein said mobile station is in the uplink communicate on the link and downlink channels. The invention also relates to a communication network node using said method. Background technique [0002] Demand for higher bandwidth wireless data services such as text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS), mobile video and IPTV is growing rapidly. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is developing a 3rd generation mobile system based on the evolved GSM core network and the radio access technology UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access (UTRA), and has proposed a long-term evolution (LTE) based The new Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) technology, which provides a very efficient wireless solution. The OF...
