An embodiment of the invention provides a video detecting method and a video detecting system. The video detecting method comprises the following steps of acquiring video features of a copyrighted video in advance by using a central node in a distributed system; extracting master video genes and distributing the master video genes to different calculating nodes; acquiring print genes extracted according to a video to be detected by using the calculating nodes; performing traversing comparison on all the print genes and the master video genes distributed for the print genes by using the calculating nodes, or performing traversing comparison on part of the print genes and all the master video genes distributed for the print genes; and judging whether the video to be detected is a copyrighted video or not according to comparison results of the different calculating nodes. By the embodiment of the invention, the video detecting efficiency is improved.
