Abstract

The invention provides a remote monitoring system, which can improve the communication efficiency and reduce communication costs, and a communication method thereof. The remote monitoring system comprises: a plurality of terminals providing information needed by an application; a plurality of gateway devices each with a communication unit, a storage unit and a transmission control unit; and a server capable of communicating with the gateway devices. Each gateway device communicates with a part of the plurality of terminals. The plurality of gateway devices are divided into a plurality of groups by the server. Each gateway device stores group information of the gateway device. The transmission control unit of each gateway device controls forwarding of the information from the server. When the server selects a gateway device according to an application request of a user and sends an application instruction to the gateway device, the selected gateway device receives the application instruction and forwards the application instruction to the gateway devices which can communicate with the terminals related to the application requested by the user and are in the same group with the selected gateway device.
