Abstract

The embodiment of the invention provides a data transmission method and system and relates to the communication field. The method comprises steps that UE generates a physical layer protocol data unit carrying data messages; the UE transmits the physical layer protocol data unit to an eNodeB via an uplink competition data channel; and the UE receives reception acknowledge information transmitted from the eNodeB. According to the method and system, the UE may transmit the data messages to the eNodeB just in two interactive steps, prevents six processes in the prior art. Even compared with a random access process in the six processes in the prior art, the random access process just includes four interactive steps. The method and system may decrease signallings consumed by the eNodeB side significantly when the UE transmits data and are suitable for cases where small data or accidental data is transmitted.
