Abstract

The invention relates to a photoelectric oscillator with a microwave amplitude limiter. The photoelectric oscillator comprises a light source and a photoelectric loop, and the photoelectric loop comprises a light modulator, a long fiber, a light detector, a microwave amplifier, the microwave amplitude limiter, a microwave coupler, a microwave bandpass filter and a microwave phase shifter. Compared with a routine photoelectric oscillator, the microwave amplitude limiter is used in the photoelectric loop for the first time. The photoelectric loop is a nonlinear device, and limits the amplitude of output microwave signals, so that the microwave amplifier works in a linear area, and phase-noise deterioration of output signals of the oscillator caused by that the microwave amplifier works in a saturation area can be avoided. Compared with the routine photoelectric oscillator which does not include the microwave amplitude limiter and whose microwave amplifier works in the saturation area, the photoelectric oscillator with the microwave amplitude limiter can solve the problem of phase-noise deterioration caused by saturation of the microwave amplifier, outputs oscillation signals of lower phase noise, and is simple in structure and easy to realize.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention belongs to the technical field of microwave and optoelectronics, and in particular relates to a photoelectric oscillator with a microwave limiter. Background technique [0002] The photoelectric oscillator is a new type of oscillator that uses high-quality factor (Q value) optical energy storage elements to replace traditional microwave energy storage elements. The phase noise of the oscillation signal generated by it is much smaller than that of the current electric oscillator. See the Chinese Patent No. 00803073.1 granted to X. S. Yao et al. The basic structure of the photoelectric oscillator includes a light source and an electro-optic modulator, a long optical delay line (such as optical fiber, etc.), a photodetector, a A closed feedback loop formed by a microwave amplifier and a microwave bandpass filter, wherein the output signal of the microwave bandpass filter is fed back to the microwave input terminal of the electro-optical modu...
