The method comprises the following steps: a server queries all matched routers from a database according to a server self-control part configured in a selected upgrading strategy; the server sends a upgrading command to the matched routers, wherein the upgrading command at least comprises the router self-control part configured in the upgrading strategy; the router performs the upgrading according to the received upgrading command. The invention further discloses a router upgrading system based on the server upgrading strategy; the system comprises a server and a router, wherein the server is in communication connection with the router, the server comprises a storage module, a search module and a first information transmitting-receiving module; the search module is respectively connected with the storage module and the first information transmitting-receiving module, and the upgrading strategy of the configured router is stored in the storage module. The upgrading strategy is detailed by use of the method disclosed by the invention, and different strategy upgrading pushes are performed on the routers with different characteristics.
