example 1

[0036] Example 1: When the query host 12 needs to query a total of 1000 logs starting from the oldest number, it first issues an instruction R start =0 and R req =1000 query command, after the log management device 11 receives the query command, set K=2001 in step 204, and finally transmit the logs with numbers 2001~2400 in step 216. After receiving the logs numbered 2001-2400, the query host 12 learns that S=2001 and R max =400, the query host 12 then generates an indication R start =2401 and R req =400 query command, instruction R start =2801 and R req =200 query command, then send instruction R start =2401 and R req=400 query command to the log management device 11. Next, the log management device 11 sets K=2401 in step 203 according to the query command, and finally transmits the logs numbered 2401˜2800 in step 212 . Next, the inquiring host 12 sends an instruction R start =2801 and R req =200 query command to the log management device 11. Then the log managemen...

[0037] Example 2: When the query host 12 needs to query 2000 logs starting from the oldest number, similar to the above steps, the query host 12 sends an instruction R start =0 and R req =2000 query command, and the log management device 11 transmits the logs numbered 2001~2400 to the query host 12 according to the query command, the query host 12 sequentially generates instructions R start =2401 and R req =400 query command, instruction R start =2801 and R req =400 query command, instruction R start =3201 and R req =400 query command, instruction R start =3601 and R req =400 query commands, and send these query commands to the log management device 11 in sequence. But different from Example 1, the log management device 11 receives the instruction R start =3201 and R req =400 query command, the logs numbered 3201~3500 will be transmitted in step 213. After the inquiring host 12 receives these logs, it knows that the maximum number of all logs is 3500, so it will no l...

[0038] Example 3: When the query host 12 only needs the latest few logs, an instruction R is issued start =0 and R req = 404 query command, after the log management device 11 receives the query command, set K=S in step 204, and finally return the number in step 215 as (S+N-R max )~(S+N-1), that is, the logs numbered 3101~3500 are returned to the query host 12 . Among them, although in this example R start =0, but can be other values. In particular, it is illustrated in this example that the inquiring host 12 sets R in the inquiring command req is equal to the predetermined value M, so that the log management device 11 can determine that R req After it is equal to M, the latest R is returned in one data return max pen journal.

[0039] To sum up, in the system log query method of the present invention, when the system administrator needs to query the latest log, the query host 12 transmits an instruction R req =M, the query command is sent to the log management device 11...

Abstract

The invention discloses a system log query method. The method is executed by a log management device comprising N logs numbered in order and capable of maximally ex-transmitting Rmax logs at most in response to once log query. The system log query method comprises the following steps: (A) receiving a query instruction requiring to return Rreq logs with the serial number starting from Rstart; (B) defining a transmitting starting parameter value K, and judging whether the smallest S in the serial number of the log is less than the Rstart according to the query instruction, setting K to equal to S if the smallest S is less than the Rstart, otherwise setting K to equal to Rstart; and (C) beginning returning one of the log with serial number of K and the log with serial number of (S+N-Rmax), wherein the log with the serial numbers of (S+N-Rmax) to (S+N-1) is returned when N is greater than Rmax, Rreq is greater than Rmax, and the Rreq is equal to a predetermined value M.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a system log query method, in particular to a system log query method capable of querying only the latest system log part. Background technique [0002] The system logs of the operating system are numbered one by one according to the time, and the logs are updated at any time to record the large and small events that occur in the system at any time. By viewing the system logs, system administrators can keep abreast of the system health status at any time, and create a system recording environment tailored for themselves according to their own needs. By utilizing the system log flexibly, a more stable computer usage environment can be provided. [0003] In the current system log query method, a system manager operates a query host to send a query command to a log management device to request the log management device to return logs. However, after the log management device receives the query command, it can only return the old...
