The device comprises a transformer and a rectifier. An input end of the transformer is used for connecting a power source and an output end for connecting the rectifier. An output end of the rectifier is connected to an energy storage capacitor. Two ends of the energy storage capacitor are connected in parallel to a DC converter, which is used for providing the short-circuit to the DC power gridby adopting carrier phase-shifted PWM modulation. The device of testing the short-circuit current of the DC power grid in the present invention, before test of the short-circuit current, charges theenergy storage capacitor via the transformer and the rectifier using the power source; and when charging the energy storage capacitor is finished, provides the short-circuit current to the DC power grid using the carrier phase-shifted PWM modulation with the DC converter.
