The invention discloses a milling cutter cutting path generation method and system based on a CNC milling machine, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining an original point sequence, and sequentially connecting lines to form a plurality of segments of initial vectors; obtaining a bias point sequence according to the radius of the milling cutter, and sequentially connecting lines to form a plurality of sections of bias vectors; judging whether the direction of each section of bias vector is the same as the direction of the corresponding initial vector or not, if so, determining that the vector is an effective vector, and connecting the effective vectors which are continuously connected to form a plurality of sections of continuous vectors; calculating an intersection point of two adjacent sections of continuous vectors, and replacing the corresponding intersection point with an end point of each corresponding section of effective vector to form a plurality of discrete effective point sequences; sequentially connecting the effective point sequences, dividing the effective point sequences into a plurality of monotonic chains according to a monotonic change principle, and dividing the effective point sequences into a plurality of closed chains again according to intersection points among the monotonic chains; and generating a milling cutter cutting path according to each closed chain. Local interference in the motion trail of the milling cutter can be eliminated, and the cutting efficiency of the milling cutter is improved.
