[0049] CLAIMS 1. A method (400) of decontaminating a cabin (150) of an aircraft (190) and providing an indication that it is safe to re-enter said cabin (150), said method (400) comprising the steps of:

[0050] receiving (410) a purge request (122) at the controller (110);

[0051] determining (420) at said controller (110) operating parameters (112) of one or more air conditioning units (130) and one or more fans (140) of said aircraft (190),

[0052] Wherein, the operating parameters (112) include at least the duration of operating the one or more air conditioning groups (130) and the one or more fans (140), and

[0053] Wherein, the duration of operating the one or more air conditioning groups (130) and the one or more fans (140) is at least based on the cabin volume of the aircraft (190), determined by the air conditioning group (130) and the combined ventilation rate provided by the one or more fans (140) and the residual air threshold of the aircraft (190);

Abstract

Methods and systems for purging an aircraft cabin and providing a safe reentry indication. Methods and systems are described for purging an aircraft cabin and providing an indication to provide a confidence that post-operation reentry into the cabin is safe. These methods and systems are based on utilizing outside air and/or filtered air to reduce the concentration of infectious agents inside the cabin. In some examples, a certain approach is performed after occurrence of a certain contamination event (e.g., the presence of a patient in flight) and/or as part of a periodic service (e.g., between two flights). The amount of time the system operates to introduce the compound into the nacelle is specifically calculated to reduce the proportion of remaining infectious agents below a desired level to reduce the initial concentration of the contaminant concentration within the nacelle. The purge duration is dependent on the nacelle volume and the intake air flow rate. For example, after 9 minutes of flow of the introduced air with 20 ventilations per hour, the remaining air proportion will be less than 5%.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to methods and systems for decontaminating aircraft cabins and providing safe re-entry indications. Background technique [0002] Contaminants may be introduced or present in various areas, rendering these areas unsuitable for further use. For example, with the increasing popularity of air and other types of travel and new destinations, the likelihood of infectious disease transmission increases dramatically. Contents of the invention [0003] Methods and systems are described herein for decontaminating a cabin and providing an indication that it is safe to re-enter the cabin. These methods and systems are based on replacing the air inside the cabin with outside air and / or filtered air. In some examples, a method is performed after some contamination event (eg, a sick person on a flight) and / or as part of a scheduled service (eg, between flights). The amount of air introduced into the cabin is specifically calculated ...
