Embodiment Construction

[0137] I. Overview

[0138] A general object of the present invention is to provide a Mobile Display Digital Interface (MDDI) which, as described below, enables or provides a cost-effective, low-power transmission mechanism using a "serial" type of data link A road or channel that enables high-speed or very high-speed data transfer over a short-range communication link between a host device and a client device such as a display element. This mechanism is adapted to be implemented using small connectors and thin flexible cables, which are especially suitable for connecting internal (to the housing or stand) display elements or input devices to a central controller, or for connecting wearable micro An external display element or device such as a display (goggles or projector) is connected to a portable computer, wireless communication device or entertainment device.

[0139] An advantage of the embodiments of the present invention is to provide a technology for data transmissio...

Abstract

A method for providing multimedia synchronization for simultaneous isochronous data streams through a frame sync packet in a MDDI communication system, the method comprising the steps of sending a frame sync packet from a host to a client; grouping blocks of the data streams having a pre-determined size within a frame structure; aligning a multimedia content upon receipt of the frame sync packet by the client; and presenting the multimedia content as well as a corresponding apparatus.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This patent application claims priority to Provisional Patent Application No. 60 / 494,983, filed August 13, 2003, and entitled "MDDI Specification Advancements," assigned to the present assignee, which is expressly incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] Embodiments of the invention in this disclosure relate to a digital signal protocol and process for signaling or transfer of signals at high data rates between a host device and a client device. More specifically, this disclosure relates to a technique for transferring multimedia and other types of digital signals from a host or controller device to a client device using a low power, high data rate transfer mechanism with internal and external device applications machine device for presentation or display to end users. Background technique [0004] In recent years, computer, electronic game-related products and various video technologies (such as DVD...
