The power supply unit has a current transformer 1 , which conducts alternating current on the primary side. The primary current in the current transformer 1 is converted into a secondary current and supplied to a rectifier 2 in which the rectification of the secondary current takes place in a known manner. Arranged in series with the rectifier 2 are: on the one hand, a first blocking diode 3 and a charging capacitor 4 , which is charged by the rectified current; and, on the other hand, a grounded load 7 . Charging can be interrupted by means of an electronic switch 5 which is connected in parallel to the current transformer 1 and short-circuits it when switched on.
