Abstract

The invention relates to a method for searching contacts in a phonebook according to a surname list and a phonebook storing device, belonging to the field of information display. The method provided by the invention comprises the following steps: step 1, acquiring surnames of all contacts from a phonebook storing module in which the surnames and first names of the contact names are stored separately; step 2, extracting the initial of the surname of a contact: step 3, comparing the initial of the surname with a keyword selection threshold in a Hash table, and adding the surname as the keyword code value of the keyword if matched; step 4, repeating the step 2 and the step 3 till the surnames of all contacts are added to the Hash table to generate a Hash table; step 5, displaying the generated Hash table in a surname list mode, wherein the surname list comprises the keywords and the keyword code values; step 6, searching the related records of the contact corresponding to the surname according to the surname of the contact in the Hash table, which is selected by the user.
