The network topology based set-top box file distributing method includes placing set top boxes in the same subnetwork or adjacency into a same domain, and distributing F (files) to different domains as soon as possible by means of the advantage that the requirement for bandwidth at the initial distributing stage is not high, wherein the same domain is higher in node peering speed, all the domains belong to the same DM (domain) set, links among different domains are indicated by en, and distributing trees D consist of S<0> to S <m> by combining with the Breed transmission method. The network topology based set-top box file distributing method is safer than the Fast Replica algorithm in the aspect of performance in case nodes are not much adequate from designing of the topological structure to realizing of the algorithm, or file distributing of the integral system is slightly affected when some node is disconnected or unpredicted faults are caused, so that the system is stronger in robustness.
