Abstract

The invention provides an Internet-based cross-media landmark historical event extraction and picture retrieval method. The method comprises two steps of historical event extraction and cross-media picture retrieval based on historical events. Events can be collected from tag sets of photo-sharing websites and extracted from articles in related landmark introduction websites. The extraction of events from tag sets can be realized by utilizing the frequency of each tag in time to select an optimal partition interval of the tags within the time range, obtaining a sudden weight of each tag by an age theory, and performing tag clustering on tags with high sudden weights, wherein each cluster forms an event. Cross-media picture retrieval based on events can be realized by using time constraints and event keywords to retrieve picture sets to obtain an initialized picture ranking result, establishing a model by utilizing visual mode difference between related pictures and irrelevant pictures, removing irrelevant pictures in a retrieval result, and finally establishing a reordering model by using the relativity and diversity of pictures as the constrain to find a corresponding and representative picture set for each event, so as to realize the visualization of the landmark historical events.
