The method comprises the steps of: dividing the virtual machine on a physical machine into at least two user groups according to the users to whom the virtual machines on the physical machine belong, wherein the virtual machine in each user group shares a progress, and different user groups correspond to different progresses; scanning a memory page occupied to store repeated data by the virtual machine in the corresponding user group according to the progress; deleting redundant data of the memory page where repeated data is stored; and further comprising: re-distributing the memory page released by deletion of redundant data to the virtual machines in corresponding user groups.
